The toolkitText & code

CSV to JSON converter.

Convert CSV to a JSON array of objects, or JSON to CSV. Handles quoted fields, commas and line breaks inside cells, and comma, semicolon or tab delimiters.

Processed in your browser

USEFUL DETAILS

Spreadsheet rows in. Clean JSON out.

The first CSV row becomes the object keys; turn off Header row to get row arrays instead. Values stay as text by default so leading zeros survive; tick Detect numbers to convert safe numbers, true, false and null. JSON to CSV uses every key found across all objects as a column, and nested values are written as JSON text.

Quick start

  1. Choose CSV → JSON or JSON → CSV, then pick the delimiter your CSV uses: comma, semicolon or tab.
  2. Paste your CSV or JSON and choose Convert. Quoted cells with commas or line breaks are kept intact.
  3. Check the result, then copy it or download a .json or .csv file. Swap direction to convert it back.

CSV → JSON array of objects

Header row on. The quoted comma stays inside the note and the leading zeros are kept.

Common questions

How do I convert JSON to CSV?

Choose JSON → CSV and paste an array of objects, such as [{"name":"Ada"}]. Every key found in any object becomes a column, in the order it first appears. Missing values are left blank and nested objects or arrays are written as JSON text.

Why are my numbers in quotes?

Values stay as text by default so codes like 00123 keep their leading zeros. Tick Detect numbers to turn plain numbers, true, false and null into JSON values. Very long numbers stay as text so no digits are lost.

My CSV uses semicolons. Will it work?

Yes. Choose Semicolon as the delimiter, which is common in exports from European versions of Excel. Choose Tab for cells pasted straight from a spreadsheet.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing you paste is sent to a server.
